Need a doctor over Chuseok? Here’s how to find one

People who need medical care during the Chuseok holiday should check opening hours before heading out, as hospitals, clinics and pharmacies will operate on limited schedules from Thursday through Sunday.

The easiest way to find a nearby facility is through E-Gen, the national emergency medical information website. Users can search for facilities by location, type, medical specialty and treatment date.

Because holiday hours may change, visitors should call the hospital, clinic or pharmacy before setting out. Anyone experiencing a serious or potentially life-threatening emergency should call 119.

In Seoul, 74 emergency medical facilities will operate around the clock, including 51 designated emergency medical institutions and 23 other hospitals with emergency rooms.

An average of 1,509 hospitals, clinics and pharmacies are expected to open each day during the break. That daily figure comprises 613 medical facilities and 896 pharmacies.

Busan will operate emergency medical response rooms in all 16 of its districts and counties. A total of 749 hospitals and clinics and 1,455 pharmacies are scheduled to provide services at some point during the holiday period.

The city will also maintain 24-hour emergency care for high-risk pregnant women and newborns through two regional maternal and neonatal medical centers and other obstetric facilities.

On Jeju Island, 139 hospitals and clinics and 84 pharmacies are scheduled to be open over the break. Pediatric and late-night medical services will also remain available, while the provincial government will operate an emergency medical situation room throughout the holiday.

Under the “General” search tab, users can select their city, district, neighborhood and desired treatment date. Users can also search for a particular hospital or pharmacy by name.

The “Map” tab displays medical facilities near a selected location. Users can set a search radius and filter the results by facility type, specialty and treatment date.

For telephone assistance, Seoul residents can call 120 or 119. Busan residents can call the Health and Welfare Call Center at 129 or emergency services at 119. On Jeju Island, assistance is available through 129, 119 or the 120 Manduk Call Center.
